A Long Walk

Submitted by Anonymous

Our son’s bris (circumcision) was held on a boiling Saturday in August in Lakeview. There were no ‘mohels’ who lived in the neighborhood, and, because the bris was scheduled for Saturday, this posed a serious logistical challenge for the orthodox mohels my wife and I solicited. It was looking as though I would have to perform the bris myself, with the help of a local urologist. At length, we found a rabbi who was up to the task. The intrepid hassid walked — in incredible heat, wearing full hassidic attire — all the way from West Rogers Park to perform the mitzva.
