A temple grows in Pilsen

Submitted by Peter N. Pero

Few Mexicans, and most anyone else today, realize there was a Jewish synogogue in Chicago’s Pilsen Neighborhood. It was built by the Czech Jews who helped settle this area in the 1920s. Today the neighborhood is mostly Latino and St. Pius Catholic Church bought the temple in the 1950s for a community center. Viva Pilsen!
